Your Footly account can have a few public identifiers. Understanding the difference helps you share your profile clearly and avoid confusing buyers or creators.
Username
Your username is the account handle people can use to find or recognize you. For creators, this may be part of your profile link and may appear when you message viewers, follow buyers, or share your page.
• Keep it simple. Short, readable names are easier to remember.
• Make it consistent. If you promote Footly on social media, use a name close to your existing creator identity.
• Avoid confusing symbols. Too many underscores, numbers, or lookalike characters can make your profile harder to share.
Display name
Your display name is the name shown on your profile or in parts of the app. It can be more polished than your username and should help people immediately understand who they are viewing.
• Use capitalization and spacing that looks clean on your profile.
• Creators can use a brand name, stage name, or simple descriptive name.
• Avoid generic names that make your profile blend in with everyone else.
Profile link
Your profile link is the URL you can share outside Footly. Creators should use it in social bios, link-in-bio pages, direct messages, and promo posts when allowed by the platform they are using.
Changing names
1. Open Settings or your profile editor.
2. Update the field you want to change.
3. Save your changes.
4. Review your profile to make sure the new name looks right on mobile and desktop.
5. If your profile link changes, update any places where you previously shared the old link.
Creator best practices
• Make the name match your content style. Buyers should be able to connect the name, bio, and posts quickly.
• Do not change names too often. Frequent changes can make it harder for repeat buyers to find you.
• Use your profile link everywhere it makes sense. The easier it is to reach your Footly page, the easier it is for buyers to purchase.
